Not my favourite form of racing to be honest - size and weight mean it's far more about the trucks than the racing IMHO, but worth a laugh
Photographically it's also hard work. November isn't great for racing - when the sun's up it's low, and it was dropping fast by the last race - and the trucks generate huge amounts of smoke from their engines and tyres, so combine low light levels, low sun and lots of smoke, then you need a tighter aperture to give enough DOF to cover much of the truck, and a shutter speed you can pan at and hold steadily... Not relaxing (This also means some are at 2000+ ISO - still undecided whether I think the noise is annoying or atmospheric!)
Anyway, a few photos for you. Full set of the trucks for those interested

I'm still a fan of these! I love watching these guys drift those trucks! I like the steam pouring out of the wheels on the 69 truck. I was suprised to learn they actually spray the brakes with water to keep from melting them. _________________ Greetings from Colorado.

Thanks Steve I'd never really thought about the source of the smoke / steam in much detail - the engines were definitely belching smoke and there was definitely a lot of tyre scrub, but steam from the brakes certainly makes sense. Awesome beasts to see running, but not really racing in the conventional sense. _________________ <><

Do you have any shots of the rear end of these trucks? Not sure if the water tank is in the back or under the cab. Depends on the weight and balance. Or center of Gravity. _________________ Greetings from Colorado.

Like them all, but the last one has a "grity" "dirty" feel to it, I think the noise helped in this one a lot _________________ NC30 400-VFR GSXR-600

Steve - there were all sorts of bits sticking out of the back of the cabs, including some tanks, but I didn't get any shots. Some were mid engined transplants from what I remember.
Martin - thanks, pretty much what I thought _________________ <><
