I went to watch a hill climbing event today, unfortunately I have to say I was disappointed by the small number of bikes taking part, no good vantage points and the size of the hill, it was more like a gentle slope; still as I had been an hour in the car to get there I squeezed a few shots off before leaving.

Looking at the bikes they were using made me think of the speedway bikes I have seen. They had what I believe to be exposed dry clutches, which didn’t seem that safe to me, in the first image you can see the tip of this guys boot right next to it in the red cowling.

Very nice - I see what you mean about the resemblance to speedway bikes!

Where was this?

These were taken at Little Chalfont near High Wycombe in Buckinghamshire. I was told this was their last meeting at this site and they were looking for a new venue in 2007.

Not that far from me in Bedford then!

I hear that there's Autograss racing out St. Neots - Sandy way. I really must get out there one day, see what I can see...

I can't believe I've missed these.... Sorry.

#1 and #3 are pick of the bunch for me, nice framing and some grass being thrown about. Nice.

The are grass-track bikes by the way. Very similar to speedway bikes, but they have suspension. Speedway bikes are solid IIRC..

Cheers!
